171st Street patching begins Oct. 9

The Village has hired Austin Tyler Construction, Inc. to perform concrete patching on 171st Street between Oak Park and Harlem avenues beginning Oct. 9 and lasting several weeks. All work will be contained within the roadway.

Property owners and businesses with access off 171st Street as well as the motoring public can expect various inconveniences and delays associated with construction and the traffic control necessary to perform the work. Construction will be done in both of the westbound lanes, but only one lane will be closed at a time. Two-way traffic will be maintained on 171st Street for the duration of the construction.

Property owners and businesses will never lose complete access to their driveways. Access to turn lanes from 171st Street eastbound to Oak Park Avenue northbound and from Oak Park Avenue southbound onto 171st Street westbound will be restricted at times. Turning movements will still be allowed from the through traffic lanes.

The concrete will need to cure for several days before it can be driven over with a vehicle, so the lane will remain closed for a period of time even after the construction appears to be complete. There will be minimal impact on parking to the businesses that may have parkway parking along the roadway. Alternate parking is located nearby.
