Beginning April 1, road construction to re-configure traffic lanes at the intersection of Oak Park Avenue and 171st Street will get underway. In order to improve traffic flow in our downtown area as well as reduce the waiting time at traffic lights in this location, the project will provide:
• A dedicated right turn lane from southbound Oak Park Avenue to westbound 171st Street and
• A left turn lane from westbound 171st Street to southbound Oak Park Avenue.
Because of construction, some traffic delays in this area are expected until project completion on August 1. Train commuters who utilize this intersection while traveling to the Oak Park Avenue train station are advised to allow themselves extra time to reach their destination.
