Mallow, Ireland Update

Fall 2003

The Tinley Park Sister Cities Commission was host to four social services professionals from the COPE Foundation in our twin town, Mallow, Ireland. The COPE Foundation serves more than 1,600 special needs citizens in Ireland. Cope has a beautiful facility in Mallow that serves 55 clients from the area. Cope provides job training, computer training, skill building plus social and recreational activities. The Mallow delegation met with Mr. Charley Smith, President and CEO of Community Services Foundation and professionals of Southwest Community Services. SCS supplies similar services to special needs residents from the Southland.

The Tinley Park Sister Cities Commission believes this is a wonderful opportunity to connect leaders in both communities. We have a lot to share with our friends in Ireland and a lot to learn. This visit will bring together some good people doing good work for the benefit of others.

We found the following reports on the Mallow town web site: http://www.mallow.ie
