Does your band have what it takes to go all the way to the top? Find out when the Tinley Park Regional Competition for the Illinois Battle of the Bands returns for a second year during the Downtown Tinley Block Party on Sunday, July 15!
The competition will pit four to five bands against one another for a chance to move on to the next leg in the competition, which will take place Saturday, Aug. 18 during the Illinois State Fair. The winning band also will have the chance to open for the Hat Guys during the Village's July 28 Music in the Plaza concert. Rules include:
- All band members must be ages 12 to 21, with at least half of the members age 19 or younger as of the date of the state finals.
- This event is for bands only. For the purpose of this competition, a band is comprised of at least two people, and at least one of those members must play an instrument throughout the majority of the song. Vocals are not a requirement if there are at least two members playing musical instruments throughout the majority of the song. Pre-recorded music isn't allowed unless it's being altered in some way live on stage (mixing records, for example).
- Bands must be from Illinois and cannot already be signed to a record label.
- Performances must be family-friendly, so that means that lyrics, band names, clothing, etc. must be free of any obscenities or references to drugs or alcohol.
