Human Resources/Risk Management Responsibilities
Overview
The Department of Human Resources/Office of Risk Management works with Village administration to develop the short- and long-range needs of the Village. All Human Resources activities are conducted responsibly in an ethical, legal, fair and consistent manner. The department provides a combination of traditional administrative personnel functions with performance management, including:

Employment, Compensation and Benefits
Human Resources is responsible for human capital resource planning and manages the total compensation and benefits systems for Village employees.

Training and Organizational Development
The department ensures that Village employees are prepared to meet current and future organizational needs by developing, administering and analyzing training and professional development programs.

Employee and Labor Relations
Human Resources monitors, develops, administers, analyzes and maintains programs that promote workplace relationships in support of the Village’s strategic objectives, which include the collective bargaining process.

Occupational Health, Safety and Security

The department is responsible for promoting the physical and mental well-being of Village employees through various programs that protect the community, individuals and the workplace from unsafe acts and conditions. Human Resources champions the Village employee Wellness Program, which is designed to promote the physical and mental wellness of the employee population.

Office of Risk Management
The office manages process claims and is responsible for case management and litigation support of worker’s compensation and liability claims.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
The Village of Tinley Park's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility coordinator is Gerry Horan, 708-444-5000. This position coordinates the efforts of the Village to comply with Title II of the ADA. In addition, the accessibility coordinator administers the Village's ADA grievance procedure.
