Commuters can buy a sheet of 10 tokens for $15 at Tinley Park Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave., and at the Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 W. 183rd St. Village Hall is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, and the police department is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Tokens are used just like cash and are inserted into the numbered s lot corresponding to a parking space in the payment boxes. The token sheets are perforated to provide for easy removal from the sheet.
Commuters who choose not to use a token still can deposit $1.50 in cash in the box.
Tokens can be used for parking at the 80th Avenue train station lot as well as at the daily fee parking lot located along Hickory Street near the Oak Park Avenue train station.
The token system is the most cost-effective option for commuters because they will be using the token only when utilizing the parking lot, unlike a pre-paid placard or permit system that would charge monthly fees regardless of how often the commuter uses a parking space.
