Tinley Park Senior Community Center
The Tinley Park Senior Community Center is located at 17355 S. 68th Court (inside the Public Safety Building). The Senior Center offers a variety of social events and volunteer opportunities for Tinley Park seniors and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from October through April, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May through September.

The Tinley Park Senior Community Center offers a variety of activities, including: 
  • Come out and play cards with your friends anytime during operating hours.
  • Bingo games are held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. the first Tuesday of each month and again on the third Thursday of the month.
  • Stay indoors with us for laughter, tear-jerkers and more! Join the fun at our monthly movie event. It is just like a movie theater, except we serve free popcorn.
  • Delicious and affordable luncheons are a monthly favorite and are held on the second Wednesday of each month. Join us for some savory dishes and great conversation. The price includes a full meal, a beverage and dessert. Advance tickets are sold.
  • Everybody on board! Join the crowd on our monthly bus trips.
  • The Community Center has three computers available with Internet service that members can use. Various computer classes also are available to members, and information is published in flyers or in our newsletter.

Other Services

Senior Center members can learn about the latest news and upcoming events in the Senior Newsletter, which is delivered monthly to members’ mailboxes.

The Senior Center also presents informational programs and guest speakers who inform members about important topics, including “Security for Seniors.”

Senior Center members also can have their blood pressure checked free of charge. A local registered nurse is available onsite at the Senior Center on designated days. See the newsletter or call (708) 444-5150 for more information.

PACE Bus Service
Bus service for seniors and the handicapped is available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays. Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance by calling (708) 532-7433. Fare is 65 cents each way with an RTA-reduced fare card for riders age 65 and older or $1.30 per ride each way without the card. Fare for ages 55 to 64 is $1.30 per ride.

Village bus service for medical appointments in Orland Park, Oak Forest and Mokena only is available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays. Reservations for all medical appointment-related bus rides must be made 48 hours in advance. Fare is 75 cents each way for riders age 65 and older with the RTA-reduced fare card and $1.50 each way without the card. Fare for those ages 55 to 64 is $1.50 each way.

Cancellations must be made before 9 a.m. Reservations for trips to Brookside Marketplace are preferred on Mondays. For safety reasons, a maximum of two grocery bags are allowed, and they must be securely placed between the seats, on passengers’ laps or on the floor between their feet.

Senior Services Commission
The Senior Services Commission is charged with fostering the development of senior services within the Village of Tinley Park; communicating to the Village Board those areas concerning senior services; and developing a close working relationship with local providers striving to develop a “seamless” network of services that defines and meets the needs of senior citizens.

This nine-member commission encourages the spirit of volunteerism, recognizes the contributions of senior citizens and facilitates the participation and utilization of this most valuable resource.

The commission meets at 3 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month in the Kallsen Center at Tinley Park Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave.
