Inaugural Safety 5K

On May 5, 2013 the Nationally Accredited Tinley Park Fire Prevention Bureau and Fire Department hosted their inaugural ‘Run for Your LIFE SAFETY’ 5K Walk/Run to help raise money for the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance ‘Camp I Am Me’. With increased fire safety awareness as its primary goal, the 5K Walk/Run exceeded everyone’s expectations in attendance and sponsorship.

On Wednesday, June 19 members of the Fire Prevention Bureau presented checks for over $13,000 to ‘Camp I Am Me’, formerly known as ‘Burn Camp’. The mission of Camp “I Am Me” is to provide a safe environment for children who have experienced significant burn injuries. There is no cost to the children’s families; the IFSA even provides transportation to and from camp. This is made possible solely through the generous donations received for the camp and its prevention programs. Visit www.ifsa.org for more information.
