Sister Cities Commission seeks host families

The Tinley Park Sister Cities Commission will be welcoming an official delegation from Budingen, Germany from Oct. 2 to 14 and is seeking residents who are interested in being host families. The commission will provide transportation to and from the airport for the visitors when they arrive and depart, and host families will meet their German guests in the Kallsen Center at Tinley Park Village Hall.

Host families are asked to provide comfortable, private sleeping arrangements, as well as transportation to local destinations when needed. Host families also will be encouraged to show the visitors what makes Tinley Park and the Chicago area in general special.

“Host families won’t have to worry about providing every meal or spending every moment with their guests, or planning daily events,” Sister Cities Chairperson Lucas Hawley said. “The commission will coordinate and set up events and activities for the delegation and their host families (if they choose to join them), along with free times for our guests to spend one-on-one time with their host families.”

Most planned activities will be paid for by the individuals (each guest is responsible for activity costs such as tours, train fare, etc.).

Families interested in participating can email Hawley at sistercity@tinleypark.org. The deadline to apply is Monday, July 16.
