Enjoy this family-friendly event along Oak Park Avenue in Downtown Tinley. Come out and see floats, community groups, local schools and businesses. Enjoy delicious Irish fare and fun at the many Downtown Tinley restaurants.

Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street

This event is held the Sunday before Easter and features a visit from the Easter Bunny! Come out to have your photo taken with the big guy himself! Please bring your own camera.



Benches on the AvenueBenches on the Avenue
When: May to October
Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets

The Village will host the 15th annual Benches on the Avenue public art program in 2018 along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets. The program features nearly two dozen benches created by amateur and professional artists. The program has become one of the Village's most popular attractions, drawing thousands of people annually to Downtown Tinley.


Farmers MarketFarmers Market

Where: Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Avenue

Visit the Downtown Tinley Farmers Market from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays from June to October every year in Zabrocki Plaza for the best selection of fruits, vegetables and fresh flowers! For information on how to become a vendor, email tpfarmersmarket@aol.com.



Cruise NightsCruise Nights
When: Tuesdays  |  5 to 9 p.m.  |  June to August
Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 171st Street and 173rd Place

Are you a classic car or hot rod owner or fan? Show them off or just view them on Tuesdays during the summer months in Downtown Tinley! Enjoy this classic car show with no entry fee, food and beverages for sale and music provided by a DJ. Cruise Nights presented by Tinley Park V.F.W. Post 2791. Due to public safety concerns, both northbound and southbound Oak Park Avenue will be closed starting this year from 171st Street to North Street from 4:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. for each Cruise Night. Visit the Cruise Nights page or see the Cruise Nights flyer for more details on road closures.


Music in the PlazaMusic in the Plaza

Enjoy a wonderful evening listening to music under the stars during the Music in the Plaza series. Food and beverages are sold by some of your favorite Tinley Park establishments. Please keep in mind that Music in the Plaza is not a pet-friendly event. North Street closes at 6:30 p.m., and there will be no parking allowed in the vacant field behind E&B Liquors.

Let your inner musician roam free on June 21 during Make Music Tinley Park, an all-day celebration of music that will occur concurrently in 800 other cities in 120 countries across the world. From sunup to sundown, musicians of every age and ability will flock to outdoor venues across town to share their love of music with the masses. The best part? Block PartyDowntown Tinley Block Party

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets

The Village's annual Block Party takes place the third Sunday in July along Oak Park Avenue from 171st to Hickory streets. The event features food and free family fun such as a bean bag tournament, rides and inflatables, KidZone activities, a classic car show, live music on two stages and more! This event also will host the Tinley Park Regional Competition for Illinois Battle of the Bands. Please keep in mind that the Block Party is not a pet-friendly event.
 


National Night OutNational Night Out
When:
 6 to 9 p.m.  |  Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019
Where: Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Avenue

Join the Tinley Park Police Department at this annual, award-winning event every August in Zabrocki Plaza. Attendees can meet and greet members of Tinley Park’s Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency and Public Works Department, as well as view the many Village-owned vehicles on display. Other activities include family entertainment and booths from local businesses. Information on road closings and parking during National Night Out (which includes Cruise Night and the "Beauty and the Beast" showing) is available.


Fire Dept Open HouseFire Prevention Open House
When:
 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  |  October 2019
Where: Fire Station No. 46, 17355 S. 68th Court

Each year, the Tinley Park Fire Department and the nationally accredited Tinley Park Fire Prevention Bureau highlight fire prevention education, culminating in the Fire Prevention Week Open House at Fire Station No. 46. The open house features a Fire Department 101, fire safety drills, the Junior Firefighter Challenge and CPR training.


Boo BashBoo Bash
When: Noon to 3 p.m.  |  October 2019
Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street

The annual Boo Bash is great fun for families with young children. Activities include spooky hayrides, an interactive animal encounter, games, crafts, DJ entertainment, a costume contest with prizes, magic shows, dance lessons and a Witch's Storytime. Food and beverages will be sold.


Holiday MarketHoliday Market
When: 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 30  |  Noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2
Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street (south parking lot)

Stroll into the cozy warmth of a large, heated tent and shop for unique handmade crafts and creations. Enjoy tasty treats and live music by local groups and entertainers. Children will have fun making holiday crafts, writing letters for the soldiers and cookie decorating.



Mayor Tree-LightingCommunity Tree-Lighting Ceremony
When:
 6 p.m.  |  Friday, Nov. 30
Where: Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park

Village officials will light the magnificent 35-foot community holiday tree. Arrive early for a sing-a-long to holiday music at 5:30 p.m. Dress warmly!




Tinley Toyland ParadeToyland Parade
When:
 11:45 a.m.  | Saturday, Dec. 1
Where: 175th Street to Zabrocki Plaza

The Tinley Toyland Parade celebrates the official arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will visit the Oak Park Avenue train station immediately following the conclusion of the parade. Children are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for persons of any age, to be donated to a local charity. A collection center will be located near the Holiday Market. Toyland Parade Application


Parade of LightsParade of Lights
When:

Where: Viewing area at 177th Street along Oak Park Avenue

The Parade of Lights includes festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. A few very special guests from the North Pole will be making an appearance!


More Holiday HappeningsHorse Rides
Old-fashioned carriage rides:
 Horse-drawn carriage rides through historic downtown Tinley Park will take you back in time.
Ice carving demonstration: Watch fantastic frozen sculptures being created right before your eyes at Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Ave.
Carousel ride: Children can enjoy a free ride on a carousel and other attractions at the Oak Park Avenue Metra train station.
Holiday activities: Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the season and enjoy holiday activities a Old Zion Landmark Church, 6727 W. 174th St., Tinley Park.
Photos with Santa: Santa and Mrs. Claus will be inside the train station to visit with children. Receive a complimentary photo from the North Pole. Santa’s visitors are encouraged to bring a nonperishable item to be donated to a local food pantry.
Campfire and S'mores: Stop by the campfire and enjoy some S'mores just south of the Oak Park Avenue train station and Holiday Market.
