Permit Fees

Permits usually take as many as 15 working days (or three weeks) to process. The Building Division will notify the property owner by telephone or email when the permit is ready. Pick up all permits at the Community Development Department at Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. Payment is not required until the permit is picked up.

Building Permit and Inspection Fees
Residential building permits for work costing:
 

  • $0 to $6,000 – $50

  • More than $6,000 to $12,000 – $80

  • More than $12,000 to $18,000 – $110

  • More than $18,000 to $24,000 – $130

  • More than $24,000 to $30,000 – $160

  • More than $30,000 – $160 + $6 for each $1,000 or part thereof

Inspection fees additional.

Commercial building permits for work costing:
  • $0 to $6,000 – $100
  • More than $6,000 to $24,000 – $150
  • More than $24,000 to $30,000 – $200
  • More than $30,000 – $200 + $8 for each $1,000 or part thereof

Inspection fees included in permit cost.

New construction residential building permits for work costing:

  • $0 to $6,000 – $50
  • More than $6,000 to $12,000 – $80
  • More than $12,000 to $18,000 – $110
  • More than $18,000 to $24,000 – $130
  • More than $24,000 to $30,000 – $160
  • More than $30,000 – $160 + $6 for each $1,000 or part thereof

Inspection fees are included in the permit cost. Fee is all-inclusive of other building permit fees. Public Works and engineering fees still apply.


Plan check/review fees for work costing:
  • 5% of the total permit fee ($50 minimum) and any third-party review costs

Water/Sewer Tap-on fees (based on water service size):
 
  • Residential - $6,000
  • 1” Commercial - $7,250
  • 1.5” Commercial - $12,000
  • 2” Commercial - $19,000
  • 3” Commercial - $46,000
  • 4” Commercial – $68,000
  • 4”+ - To be negotiated with Village based on associated costs of the proposed development
  • Upgrade fees are based on the difference between the new size and the existing size.
