The Village and participating sponsors host an annual series of popular, family-friendly events that are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Irish Parade

Where: Central Middle School, 18146 S. Oak Park Avenue
Come out and enjoy the family-friendly Tinley Park Irish Parade along Oak Park Avenue in Downtown Tinley! See floats, community groups, local schools and businesses. Enjoy delicious Irish fare and fun at the many Downtown Tinley restaurants.

Photos with the Bunny

Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street
This event is held the Sunday before Easter and features a visit from the Easter Bunny! Come out to have your photo taken with the big guy himself! Please bring your own camera.

Memorial Day Ceremony

Where: Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza
The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Veterans Commission host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza each May. Events include patriotic music, short speeches, a wreath-laying ceremony and a gun salute.

Benches on the Avenue

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets
The Village hosts its Benches on the Avenue public art program each year along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets. The program, which features benches created by amateur and professional artists, has become one of the Village's most popular attractions. Come to Downtown Tinley Cruise Nights on Tuesdays during the summer in Downtown Tinley for a classic car show with no entry fee, food and beverages for sale and DJ music. Cruise Nights presented by Tinley Park V.F.W. Post 2791.

Each year, the Chicago White Sox offer specially priced tickets to Tinley Park residents and their families to see a home game at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago. Tickets are available online.

The Tinley Park Block Party takes place the third weekend in July along Oak Park Avenue and features food and free family fun such as tropical bands on two stages, food vendors, beverages and a lot more!

National Night Out

Where: Freedom Park, 7835 Timber Drive
Join the Tinley Park Police Department at this annual, award-winning event every August. Attendees can meet and greet members of Tinley Park’s Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency and Public Works Department, as well as view the many Village-owned vehicles on display. Other activities include family entertainment and booths from local businesses.

Fire Prevention Open House

The Tinley Park Fire Department and the nationally accredited Tinley Park Fire Prevention Bureau hosts its annual open house at Fire Station 46, 17355 S. 68th Court. Tinley Park Boo Bash

The annual Boo Bash is great fun for families with young children. Activities include trick-or-treating through business booths, DJ entertainment and much more! Food and beverages will be sold. Veterans Day Ceremony

Where: Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza

Holiday Market

Where: Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Avenue
Stroll into the cozy warmth of a heated tent and shop for unique handmade crafts and creations. Enjoy tasty treats and live music by local groups and entertainers. Children can make holiday crafts, write letters for the soldiers and decorate cookies. Businesses have a chance to sell gift cards and products during the Holiday Market while promoting their business to thousands. Community Tree-Lighting Ceremony

Tinley Toyland Parade

When: 11:45 a.m.   |  Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022
Where: 174th Street to Zabrocki Plaza
The Tinley Toyland Parade celebrates the official arrival of Santa Claus, who will visit the Oak Park Avenue train station immediately following the conclusion of the parade. Children are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for persons of any age, to be donated to a local charity. A collection center will be located near the Holiday Market.

Parade of Lights

When: 5 p.m.  |  Sunday, Dec. 4, 2022
Where: Viewing area at 175th Street along Oak Park Avenue
The Parade of Lights will march north down Oak Park Avenue from 175th Street to the Subway parking lot. The parade includes festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. A few very special guests from the North Pole will be making an appearance!

More Holiday Happenings

Where: Downtown Tinley
Other holiday events include old-fashioned carriage rides through historic downtown Tinley Park, an ice carving demonstration at Zabrocki Plaza, carousel rides at the Oak Park Avenue station, holiday activities at Old Zion Landmark Church, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus inside the train station and S'mores by a campfire.
