Mayor Michael GlotzWelcome to Tinley Park, one of the fastest-growing communities in the Chicago region. From new developments and infrastructure improvements to the influx of new businesses and all the innovative ways we’re marketing Tinley Park to the entire region via our Life Amplified music brand, the proof is all around us – we’re a community on the rise.

With hundreds of dedicated employees spread across nearly a dozen departments, the Village is here to make life better for residents and invest in Tinley Park’s future. You don’t have to look far to see this in action, either. From our first-class venues like Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre, Harmony Square plaza and the Tinley Park Convention Center, to our scores of beautiful parks and hundreds of stellar restaurants, bars and shops, everything we do is to improve the quality of life for our wonderful residents and the millions of visitors who pass through Tinley Park every year.

First incorporated in 1892, the area now known as Tinley Park was settled mostly by emigrants from the Eastern United States, Germany, Ireland, England, Scotland, and Canada as early as the 1830s. As America’s grew, so did our new community, which sprung up along the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad lines in 1853 and was known as the Village of Bremen. This close proximity to the railroad influenced the Village’s rapid expansion, and in 1890, our name changed to Tinley Park in honor of the Village’s first railroad station agent, Samuel Tinley Sr.

I invite you to peruse our pages here at TinleyPark.org for a wealth of information about the Village of Tinley Park and all we have to offer. It won’t take long for you to see why we were named the Best Place to Raise a Family by BusinessWeek and Best Place to Live in the Southland’s Best Readers’ Poll.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a new resident, have lived here your whole life, or are simply a visitor passing through – we’re glad you’re here!

Glotz SIG
