IDPH issues new mitigation measures

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) will enact additional COVID-19 resurgence mitigation measures starting at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20 in every region across the state in an attempt to slow the spread of the virus.

These mitigations aim to limit gatherings and encourages residents to stay home as much as possible. It also urges residents to follow proper safety measures when out in public.

The IDPH reports that the statewide positivity rate is at a record high, and that hospitalizations are already surpassing the spring peak, prompting more stringent mitigations to combat the surge and preserve hospital capacity.

A complete list of additional mitigation measures is available on the IDPH website. Read the IDPH's official news release for more information.
