Mayor Glotz's Monthly Message

Posted: May 5, 2021

Mayor Michael W. GlotzI couldn’t be more thrilled and humbled to have been elected as the 24th mayor of this great and storied community. On behalf of the entire Village Board, I can’t wait to get started on working to strengthen Tinley Park through an increased focus on public safety, sustainable economic development and government accountability and accessibility.

This first point is of key importance. The safety of Tinley Park as a whole is paramount and requires a unified effort across the entire community. Tinley Park has a large and diverse population spread out across 16 square miles, with access to a variety of high-speed modes of transportation that provide quick movement in and out of town. As such, our police, fire, EMT and other emergency services must all be engaged with each other to keep our village safe. Nothing is more valuable than the security of our residents, and we promise to work to ensure everyone continues to feel safe.

We also pledge to focus on sustainable economic development and long-range planning, which are fundamental and crucial components of our economic priorities and our vision for Tinley Park. Sustainable development depends on creating a stable and reliable environment of opportunity.

We’re also committed to bold new ideas and a government that’s stable, accountable, consistent and reliable in all its actions. With a business- and development-friendly approach, we promise to be good stewards of Tinley Park to ensure this town that we all love continues to prosper and succeed. We promise to continue the excellent work started by Mayor Ed Zabrocki and his team, who laid the foundation on which we will now build Tinley Park’s future.

We’ve all just come through a very difficult time, but I’m extremely encouraged by our progress so far in fighting the COVID-19 virus here in Tinley Park and across the country. Things are finally starting to get back to normal, and I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and get started on all the major projects on the horizon. I’m sure I’m not alone when I say I’ve missed all the Village’s great special events and I’m happy to report that, barring an unexpected COVID downturn, the Farmers Market, Cruise Nights along Oak Park Avenue, the Music in the Plaza concerts and the Downtown Tinley Block Party will return this summer with appropriate safety measures in place to protect attendees.

It’s a brand-new day here in Tinley Park. With a united Village Board, a fantastic team of hard-working Village employees and a passionate base of dedicated residents, Tinley Park is poised for an exciting and prosperous future. There’s no limit on how much we can do if we work together. Let’s listen to each other attentively, imagine our futures boldly, discern our direction wisely, persevere courageously, serve together in charity, embrace the greater good and pass on Tinley Park’s gifts to future generations.
