Life Amplified

Mayor's Corner

Mayor Michael GlotzThere’s no denying it – holiday magic is in the air in Tinley Park!

Hopefully you had a chance to come out to our recent Holiday Happenings event in Downtown Tinley for live music, parades, the official lighting of the Village tree and much more. If you missed it, or if you want to relive some of the fun, be sure to check out a short video of the weekend’s festivities on the Village’s YouTube page or by tuning in to Tinley Park Television.

I encourage everyone to stop by Zabrocki Plaza and take a stroll through the beautiful Holiday Walk before having dinner or shopping for a few last-minute gifts at one of our many fantastic Tinley Park businesses. While you're out, also be sure to play the Village's Elf in the Window contest for a chance to win some fun prizes. Downtown Tinley looks absolutely wonderful this time of year, and I guarantee it’ll put you in the holiday mood!

You’ll also want to check out the winners of this year’s Holiday House Decorating Contest. Dozens of Tinley Park residents showed their holiday spirt by stringing their homes in lights and decorations, and all of them are very impressive to see in person. Use this map as a guide and witness all the great submissions!

Of course, I'd be remiss if I also didn't give a big shout-out to Scott O'Connor and his family for winning this year's ABC7 Great Chicago Light Fight! Scott's home at 7414 W. 162nd Place beat out four other Chicago-area homes to take this year's crown, and he and his family appeared on Channel 7 Friday morning to accept the honor. Scott also won Best Use of Music in our House Decorating Contest. Congrats to the O'Connors for a job well done!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season filled with friends, family, fun and magical memories that will last throughout the year. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
