The Village and participating sponsors host an annual series of popular, family-friendly events that are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Memorial Day Ceremony

The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Veterans Commission host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza each May. Events include patriotic music, short speeches, a wreath-laying ceremony and a gun salute.

Benches on the Avenue

Where: Along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets
The Village hosts its Benches on the Avenue public art program each year along Oak Park Avenue from 172nd to 176th streets. The program, which features benches created by amateur and professional artists, has become one of the Village's most popular attractions. The Tinley Park Block Party takes place the third weekend in July along Oak Park Avenue and features food and free family fun such as tropical bands on two stages, food vendors, beverages and a lot more!

National Night Out

Join the Tinley Park Police Department at this annual, award-winning event every August. Attendees can meet and greet members of Tinley Park’s Police Department, Fire Department, Emergency Management Agency and Public Works Department, as well as view the many Village-owned vehicles on display. Other activities include family entertainment and booths from local businesses.

Fire Prevention Open House

The Tinley Park Fire Department and the nationally accredited Tinley Park Fire Prevention Bureau hosts its annual open house at Fire Station 46, 17355 S. 68th Court. The open house features fire safety drills, the Junior Firefighter Challenge, CPR training and more.

Tinley Park Boo Bash

Where: Oak Park Avenue train station, 6700 South Street
The annual Boo Bash is great fun for families with young children. Activities include trick-or-treating through business booths, DJ entertainment and much more! Food and beverages will be sold. The day will open with a sensory-friendly time with reduced noise levels and a quiet zone.

Veterans Day Ceremony

Where: Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza
The Village of Tinley Park and the Tinley Park Veterans Commission host the annual Veterans Day Ceremony every November at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza. Honor the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice and those who were willing to in service of the United States. The ceremony includes patriotic music, short speeches and a gun salute.

Parade of Lights

When: Sunday, Dec. 8
Where: Viewing area at 175th Street along Oak Park Avenue
The Parade of Lights will march north down Oak Park Avenue from 175th Street to the Subway parking lot. The parade includes festive floats, vehicles, local businesses, community groups and school bands displaying the spirit of the season. A few very special guests from the North Pole will be making an appearance!
