Parking system coming April 1

Posted: March 15, 2024

The Village is working with Total Parking Solutions to implement a new electronic parking meter system starting April 1 at the Oak Park Avenue and 80th Avenue train stations. In addition to making parking more streamlined for commuters, the new system will use real-time data tracking to allow for better management of parking spaces and resources.

Commuters will be able to pay with cash, coin or credit card at a parking kiosk, or on an Apple or Android smartphone using the Passport parking app. The old payboxes will be removed in conjunction with the changeover. As part of the change, parking will be increasing to $2 on April 1. Parking on weekends and after 10 a.m. on weekdays will continue to be free. Permits will no longer be issued.

Commuters will be able to exchange old parking tokens for credits on the new Passport parking app. To begin the process, fill out this form and bring it with you to Tinley Park Village Hall, 16250 S. Oak Park Ave., during regular business hours, or Mondays through Fridays at the Tinley Park Police Department, 7850 W. 183rd St. Hard copies of the form will be available at both locations. Call Tinley Park Village Hall at (708) 444-5000 or email parking@tinleypark.org for more details. Token trade-ins will be available until Jun 1, 2024.

Representatives from Total Parking Solutions will be at both train stations on April 1 to assist commuters in using the new parking meters.
